2 Day Tour From Marrakech To Merzouga

The Marrakech to Merzouga 2-day tour is an ideal one for people who have limited time in Morocco but would like to experience the camel trek and spend a night at the Merzouga desert camp.

The 2-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga will begin with Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech early in the morning at 7:00 am to have enough time to make as many stops along the way as possible. Depart to the High Atlas mountains through the Tizi N’Tichka pass, with stops for impressive panoramic views and taking photos of the authentic Berber villages that disguise in the landscapes.

Then we continue south to the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (fortified village). We will make a quick stop for pictures, or if you are traveling in the summer months when the day is long enough, we can do a short visit. This famous Kasbah was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. And many famous films have been shot in this spectacular place. Including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Obelix, The Mummy, etc.

Our 2-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga continues to Ouarzazate to see film studios and Taourirt Kasbah from outside, then makes other quick stops for pictures at different places where the scenery is spectacular. You will have free time for lunch in Tinghir or Tinejdad, and then we will continue our way to the Merzouga desert to reach the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

From here, you will do the camel trek for around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will have the opportunity to watch the sunset at the top of a dune, try sandboarding (optional), take photos, and enjoy the views. We continue to the Berber camp, where you will be welcomed with a cut of mint tea, have a delicious dinner, listen to the traditional Berber drumming music, and then sleep in a tent under a beautiful starry sky.

On the second day of our Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour, after watching the sunrise, you will have breakfast and shower at the camp, and then we will drive back to Marrakech through the arid pre-desertic area, where we will see acacia trees typical of this landscape.

On the way to the Draa Valley, we will make some stops to admire the beautiful views of the river; it’s the longest river in Morocco. Our trip continues towards Ouarzazate, crossing the Anti-Atlantic Mountains.

We will have free time for lunch in the city, and in the afternoon we will continue our journey to Marrakech. We will arrive in the evening, transfer to your hotel, and your 2-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga ends.
