Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour 4 Days Itinerary
Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Middle Atlas - ZiZ Valley - Merzouga [500 km]
We will pick you up at your hotel/riad to start our “4 days from Fes to Marrakech”. then drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way, we will pass by some small Berber villages through the Middle Atlas mountains and take the road to Ifrane, the “Moroccan Little Switzerland”, to have some time to walk and discover this city.
From there, we will head to Azrou, the old Berber city with the largest Cedar Forest in Morocco. We will get the chance to walk through the beautiful woods to see the Barbary monkeys.
We will continue our tour through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt as we admire the panoramic views of the Middle-Atlas plateau. After lunch, we will continue our journey to the Golden Merzouga through the incredible Ziz Valley and Erfoud.
As soon as we get to Merzouga, we will ride our camels in the middle of Erg Chebbi, the largest dunes in Africa. There, we will catch an amazing sunset view, do sandboarding, and head to our Berber Desert Camp, to have Dinner and sleep under the starry sky.
Day 2: 4×4 Desert Excursion Includes (Nomad Family, Khamlia Village)”: [57 km]
Today, waking up early is highly recommended to contemplate the beautiful Sunrise in the middle of the desert.
After a tasty breakfast at the camp, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and its unique landscapes. From there, we will dedicate the day to exploring the region of Merzouga.
Firstly, we will visit the village of Khamlia, where you can listen to a different style of music called Gnawa. Its inhabitants originate from sub-Saharan countries like Sudan, Mali, and Niger.
From there, we will head towards M’fis, an abandoned small town with mines of Galena, a mineral once used to make Mascara.
Then we will drive to visit a nomad family behind the Erg Chebbi Dunes, very close to the borders, to get the opportunity to learn about the nomadic lifestyle and enjoy a cup of mint tea in one of their traditional Berber tents.
After lunch in a local restaurant, we will return to Merzouga. Dinner and overnight in the Riad.
Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley [275 km]
After having breakfast in your Riad, we will continue our Morocco Fes to Marrakech 4 days, towards Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani is still a major trading center in the region, with a large traditional market lively on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
If today is a weekly market day, we will stroll through the souk, then continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossilized marble workshops.
Then we will drive to the stunning Todra Gorges via Touroug and Tinejdad palm groves. Upon we arrive, you can see the marvelous springs of water run between the rocks and enjoy the contrast of natural beauty.
After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we will drive through the Dades Valley, then make a stop at the monkey fingers rock formation. Finally, dinner and overnight in a hotel.
Day 4: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas Mountains- Marrakech [353 km]
On the last day of our tour, we will leave the beautiful Dades Valley after breakfast and start heading towards Kalaat Mgouna, “The Valley of Roses”.
Then, drive along the road of 1000 Kasbahs to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Here we can visit the Film Studios or take some photos from outside. Then, we continue to visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, and where some famous movies were filmed, such as Game of Thrones, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Gladiator”, and “The Mummy”.
Our day continues through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka pass over the High Atlas Mountains. We will have many stops along the way. In the afternoon, we will reach Marrakech and drop you off at your destination, and our “4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech” will come to an end.
