Along the way, you’ll visit key historical landmarks including the iconic Royal Palace gates, the ancient Al Quaraouiyine University, traditional madrasas, and the famous Chouara Tanneries to watch craftspeople work using centuries-old techniques.

Today, you’ll head south toward the Sahara Desert, starting with a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its Alpine-style architecture and cool mountain air. Continuing through the cedar forest of Azrou, you’ll have the chance to spot and feed friendly local Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch on camels for a camel trek across the golden dunes just in time to watch a stunning desert sunset.
