Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Middle Atlas - ZiZ Valley - Merzouga
The 2 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech starts by picking you up from your riad in Fes. Then, drive towards the Merzouga desert. The first stop will be the city of Ifrane, known for its low temperatures, snowfall, and alpine-style houses — no wonder it’s called the Switzerland of Morocco.
After that, we continue to Midelt via the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop in the cedar forest to see Barbary apes—feel free to feed them while strolling through the woods.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant en route. Then, we will head to the Merzouga Sahara, driving through the Ziz Valley (an oasis full of palm trees), and we will stop at a panoramic view to see this oasis.
In the afternoon, we will reach the Sahara, where you switch to camels and cross the sandy desert. A stop will be made for you to watch the magical Sunset on top of a high dune and do sandboarding before you reach the camp.
Once you arrive, the staff will serve you a Berber tea and show you your private tent. After having a tasty dinner, you will enjoy the Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a starry sky.
Day 2: Merzouga Sahara- Ait Ben Haddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
Today, an early morning is highly recommended to watch an amazing Sunrise in the middle of the desert.
After a tasty breakfast at your camp, you have the option to return to Merzouga village by camel trek or a comfortable 4WD car, where the driver awaits. From there, we’ll begin our journey toward Marrakech, and you will have some stops along the way.
We will stop in Ait Ben Haddou to enjoy a panoramic view of the most famous Kasbah in Morocco. Furthermore, the Kasbah has appeared in Many movies and TV series, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones… UNESCO has protected the ancient village as a World Heritage Site since 1987.
